Please join us in honoring a remarkable person who loved life and lived it to the fullest, making friends along the way and inspiring us all.

Chris surrounded herself with people and activities that gave her great joy:
her family and friends, the arts, the great outdoors, and tennis.
She enjoyed the challenge of learning the game of tennis and was committed to becoming a better tennis player.  Her passion for the game was fueled by the many special friendships that she developed during her years of playing social and competitive tennis.

The Chris Burge Classic Tennis Tournament was organized four years ago to honor
Chris Burge, a passionate tennis player, who died of lung cancer in January 2007.
Although Chris never smoked, she was part of a growing unfortunate group of
non-smoking women who are diagnosed with lung cancer.
The 2010 tournament will be held Oct. 15-17 at the
Miramont South location and the Colorado Tennis Center.
All proceeds will benefit non-smoking lung cancer research at the
University Of Colorado Cancer Center and to build the
Poudre Valley Hospital Cancer Center in Fort Collins.
In addition, a portion of the money raised will fund two $1,000 scholarships,
which will be awarded to a male and female Northern Colorado
high school senior tennis player.
The doubles tennis tournament is open to men and women at the 6.0 through the
professional open division.
Last year, over 100 players competed and more than
$23,000 was raised for cancer research.

As this event continues to grow and our fundraising goals expand, the need for
sponsorship increases as well. Your company's generous donation will help raise
awareness relating to non-smoking lung cancer. Also with your support, two
community cancer centers will continue to provide medical care, efficiencies and
conveniences for patients and families battling the disease.

Thank you in advance for your time, commitment and support.

Sincerely - Shireen Updegraff
